Paul Kerridge holds full professional indemnity and public liability insurance and is an Affiliate Member of the Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association. This is the industry’s leading professional standards group.
He attended the Falmouth Marine College receiving qualifications in Yacht & Boat building and furthered these in Southampton with qualifications in Yacht Manufacturing Technology and Marine Industries Management. He has also successfully attained a Diploma in Marine Surveying, with accreditation in Small Craft from the National Sea Training Centre & Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.
He became a professional crew member on yachts such as a Swan 77’ and an Oyster 55’ sailing in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, British Columbia and Alaska and later moved to a 56M aluminum motor yacht as the Bosun & ship's joiner. In this position he had the opportunity to assist in the management of a number of refits in Germany and America.
Having completed several thousand miles afloat, he started and ran a limited company in Barcelona specialising in GRP & composite repairs, fairing, painting, varnishing, and slurry blasting becoming a recognised osmosis centre for boats from 6m to 24m.
When he returned to Falmouth he joined a local boatyard, ultimately managing the Shipwright, GRP and Painting departments. This business specialises in damage repair work for insurance companies and maintaining & building traditional wooden craft.
He is a member of the Cornwall Marine Network and is currently training to become an NVQ assessor for the marine industry.
Paul Kerridge has never lived far from the sea and at an early age began sailing and progressed through the local dinghy fleets attaining success at a national level in boats he had prepared or built himself. He is still an active member of the sailing scene locally, sailing both classic wooden yachts and production keel boats.
